A2B Radio Cars team up with Boston Tea Party in a bid to improve Solihulls air quality

A group of Solihull taxi drivers have teamed up with local coffee shop Boston Tea Party to use their sustainable and reusable cups on their travels.

Fifty driver partners of A2B Radio Cars’ environmentally sound vehicles have each been gifted a reusable coffee cup, which they can use for a free daily drink, as well as 10% discount vouchers to give passengers in this latest environmentally-friendly initiative.

The move sits well with A2B’s endeavours to improve air quality across the area and contribute towards a Clean Air Zone – a push which has seen a quarter of A2B Radio Cars being environmentally friendly.

In recognition of this pollution problem, Boston Tea Party no longer issues single-use coffee cups and stopped using plastic straws and plastic bottles altogether in 2017. The coffee chain aims to recycle all waste by the end of this year.

Lee Barton, A2B Radio Cars General Manager, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with a like-minded business, with the common goal being to protect the environment, driven by our ethical values. A2B is one of Birmingham and Solihull’s largest taxi company’s and has more than 700 driver-partners operating in the West Midlands. We want to ensure our environmental impact is reduced, whilst keeping the people of Solihull and Birmingham moving.”

Mark Kerby, General Manager of Boston Tea Party, Solihull, said: “As we grow we are determined to get better in partnering with other local businesses who share our goal, refusing to accept that we have to compromise our values – the stuff that really matters to us -as we expand.

”We do all of this because we want to be the epic soulful café chain we think the world needs.”

Asim Amjad, A2B driver partner said: “I buy two or three coffees a day and by using this reusable cup will save on average of ten cups from going to landfill each week. Plus my customers will love this discount.”

One in every four of A2B’s fleet, which complete 2.4 million rides every year, is now environmentally friendly, a figure which is part of the company’s ongoing growth strategy.

A2B Radio Cars is owned by Veezu, the UK’s fastest growing taxi and private hire business, which operates regional hubs Dragon Taxis in South Wales, V Cars in Bristol and Bath, Swindon and Chippenham, plus Amber Cars in Leeds and Bradford – all from its headquarters in Newport, Wales.
