Veezu is the new name for ABC Taxis Norwich

6 May 2025

Norwich’s largest private hire operator, ABC Taxis is officially rebranding as Veezu. The rebrand follows the acquisition of ABC Taxis by the Veezu Group in 2022 and marks a new chapter in Veezu’s ongoing mission to deliver connected, consistent and technology-driven travel experiences for both passengers and driver-partners across the UK.

Since joining Veezu, ABC Taxis has experienced strong growth, with the company completing one booking every 22 seconds in 2023. This figure increased to one booking every 20 seconds in 2024, reflecting the strong customer demand in Norwich that Veezu continues to meet. The company’s services are characterised by local expertise, community support, and the convenience of app-based, online and phone booking options.

As part of the Norwich rebrand, Veezu will continue to invest in the latest technology to enhance service delivery and support the development of a greener fleet in the city, further reflecting the company’s commitment to growth and innovation. Today, over 75% of its 500-strong fleet in Norwich is comprised of hybrid or electric vehicles – making it one of the leading operators in low-emission transport across the region. This move not only meets growing passenger demand for greener travel options but also aligns with Norwich’s ambition to reduce emissions and improve air quality. As a forward-looking city, Norwich - through the City Council and the Norwich 2040 City Vision Partnership - has formally adopted a target to achieve city-wide net zero by 2045 which Veezu is proud to support.

Beyond sustainability, strengthening community ties remains at the heart of Veezu’s commitment to Norwich. The company will continue its partnership, first established by ABC Taxis, with Nelson’s Journey, the Norfolk charity supporting bereaved children and young people. Since 2023, the partnership has raised thousands of pounds and provided monthly journeys for service users, reducing transport barriers for families who rely on the charity’s services and making sure that they can access vital support.

Passengers in Norwich will continue to enjoy the familiar local service they rely on, while also benefitting from Veezu’s national operational scale, improved in-app journey tracking, and a more integrated passenger experience as a result of the rebrand. These enhancements come alongside upgraded technology, more flexible payment options and smarter ride features available through the Veezu app. The improved services will be accessible to all passengers, whether for leisure or business, including over 600 individual corporate clients that Veezu services locally, such as Norfolk County Council, which provides county-level functions to the city.

Veezu offers 24/7 on-demand and prebooked, affordable transport services. As the UK's fastest-growing and largest private hire technology business, Veezu now operates in over 50 locations across the UK and partners with more than 16,000 self-employed driver-partners. The rebrand aligns with Veezu’s ongoing growth and expansion plans.

Chris Ford, Regional Operations Director for Veezu Norwich, said: “ABC Taxis has been central to Norwich and the wider Norfolk transport network for over three decades. This has continued under Veezu and as we rebrand the business today, we will continue to deliver the highest levels of service by combining local experience with national capabilities. As we continue to grow, we’re focused on delivering passenger experience through ongoing investment in service, improved air quality and enhanced technology and continued collaboration with local organisations.”

Simon Wright, Chief Executive of Nelson’s Journey, said: “For many years, ABC Taxis have enabled bereaved families across Norfolk to access the services we provide. We are pleased that Veezu will continue to support the work of our charity. In a rural county, transport can be a real barrier for some people, and ABC Taxis have always been there to help families to get to the right place at the right time for the right support from Nelson’s Journey.”

Passengers in Norwich can still call the local number on 01603 666333 but they are advised to download the new Veezu app here: https://app.veezu.co.uk/8XOX/norwichpress
